One-dimensional cyclic loading tests on saturated and unsaturated sand-clay mixtures

A series of one-dimensional cyclic loading tests are carried out on three different proportions Sydney sand – kaolin mixtures, at various initial degrees saturation. The settlement the samples throughout is accurately monitored. effects degree saturation and frequency load evolution during thoroughly investigated for each mixture. patterns compared to those saturated highlight effect soil suction behaviour. results show that decreases while time required completion primary consolidation increases with decrease in soil. This trend more pronounced soils higher content. frequency, however, seems have negligible behaviour unsaturated under loading. result study provides valuable data future simulations validations constitutive models.
